引起牛颚肿病的牛型放线菌是此属的典型代表。另一类是衣氏放线菌，它寄生于人体，可引起后颚骨肿瘤和肺部感染。它们的生长需要较丰富的营养，通常在培养基中加放血清或心、脑浸汁等。小单孢菌属小单孢菌属(Micromonospora)菌丝体纤细，直径0.3~0.6微米，无横隔膜、不断裂、菌丝体侵入培养基内，不形成气生菌丝。只在菌丝上长出很多分枝小梗，顶端着生一个孢子。菌落比链霉菌小得多，一般2-3毫米，通常橙黄色，也有深褐、黑色、蓝色者；菌落表面覆盖着一薄层孢子堆。此属菌一般为好气性腐生，能利用各种氮化物的碳水化合物。大多分布在土壤或湖底泥土中，堆肥的厩肥中也有不少。此属约30多种，也是产抗生素较多的一个属。例如庆大霉素即由绛红小单孢菌和棘孢小单孢菌产生，有的能产生利福霉素、卤霉素等共30余种抗生素。医学认为，此属菌产生抗生素的潜力较大，而且有的种还积累维生素B12，应予重视。链孢囊菌属链孢囊菌属（Streptosporangium）主要特点是能形成孢囊和孢囊孢子。

This genus is about more than 30 kinds and it is also a genus with more antibiotic production. For example, gentamycin is produced by Micromonospora erythraea and Micromonospora echinospora, and some produce more than 30 kinds of antibiotics such as rifamycin and halomycin. According to medical science, this genus has the potential to produce antibiotics, and some species also accumulate vitamin B12, which should be taken seriously. Streptosporangium belongs to the genus Streptosporium. Its main characteristics are the formation of cysts and cyst spores.
