食性营自生生活的革螨主要捕食小型节肢动物,也可以细菌的有机物质为食。寄生性革螨以刺吸宿主的血液和组织液为食。巢栖型革螨的吸血量较大,耐饥力较强;毛栖型革螨一般吸血量较小,耐饥力差。有的革螨种类兼性吸血,既可刺吸血液,也可吸食游离血、捕食小节肢动物或者取食动物性废物和有机质,如格氏血厉
