MIC-101 ELIMINATES THE EDGE EFFECT. Evaporation of media in

multiwell plates, placed in continuous flow CO2 incubators, can exceed

15% to 25% in outside and corner wells, respectively. The wells of

these plates are being exposed to dramatic changes in pH, nutrient

and salt concentrations.


Because there is no airflow in the controlled environment of the

Modular Incubator Chamber (MIC-101), evaporation is eliminated.

Each well within a multiwell plate retains its original composition throughout the entire experiment,

thus eliminating the “edge effect”. Placing your multiwell plates in the MIC-101 will dramatically

increase cell viability and at the same time reducing experimental variability.

Now you can count on reproducible results with the Modular Incubator

Chamber and at the same time eliminate variability and reduce contamination.

The MIC-101 is designed so your cells will no longer be subject to a changing environment.

Inside the sealed unit, temperature, humidity, and gas concentrations remain constant.

Your plates are also isolated from potential contaminants stemming from the unsterile

environment of your continuous flow incubator.

The MIC-101 allows you to perform all your experiments under the exact conditions required.

You can vary gas concentrations, humidity, or temperature depending on your needs.

Though the unit is compact enough to transport easily, it is also large enough to hold a

variety of plastic ware.

Easy to Use: Simply flush with the desired gas mixture, seal, and place the MIC-101

at the appropriate temperature.

Multi-purpose trays hold all types of microculture/multiwell plates, petri or tissue

culture dishes, T.C. flasks and test tubes. Chamber and tray components are made of

clear high-test polycarbonate. Units can be interlocked and stacked to conserve space.

The Modular Incubator Chamber has been used worldwide for

two decades to customize tissue culturing conditions for

gas mixture and temperature. This airtight chamber has been

proven safe and reliable for in vitro fertilization,

HIV isolation, creation of hypoxic / hyperoxic / normoxic environmental conditions, organ culture and the culturing of

a host of cell lines. Each unit is a self-contained incubator

enabling you to create the desired tissue culture environment (gas concentrations and humidity).

You can be assured of the outstanding quality and durability of MIC-101. It is manufactured from high test polycarbonate and individually tested for o-ring seal leakage. The use of clear polycarbonate allows visual observation of cultures without breaking the incubator's seal.

Many investigators have requested a flow meter so they may determine when they have obtained a 100% exchange of gases.

If you are using the Modular Incubator Chamber (MIC-101) to create a hypoxic, hyperoxic or normoxic environment we would recommend purchasing one of our flow meters.

We have two types of flow meters which can be adjusted for flow rates between 3 and 25 liters/min (or 0.1-10 LPM). The single flow meter (SFM 3001) is used to control the gas flow of premixed gases, and the dual flow meter (DFM 3002) can be used to mix gases in addition to controlling the gas flow rate (The dual flow meter should be used in combination with an O2 detector). The volume of each incubator chamber is approximay 8 liters.

Expensive special gas used in creating hypoxic and hyperoxic culture conditions can be conserved through the use of the flow meter. Use of the Single or Dual Flow Meter allows precise control of the amount of gas that flows through the Modular Incubator Chamber or Hot Box System.


The Single Flow Meter (SFM 3001) is calibrated for 1.0 to 25 liter per minute (LPM) (or 0.1-10 LPM) and is used for controlling flow rate of pre-mixed gases. The Dual Flow Meter (DFM 3002) is often used in experiments requiring fine tuning of O2 and or CO2 concentrations to determine the effect of different gas mixtures. This system has two flow meters, one calibrated for 0.1 to 1.0 LPM and the other for 0.1 to 10 LPM. The Dual Flow Meter has two tubing ports allowing for the mixing of gases from two separate tanks.

When the gas inlet port of the flow meter for 0.1-1.5 LPM flow meter is closed, the Dual Flow Meter can be used for pre-mixed gases in the same manner as the Single Flow Meter.

Flow meters are accuray calibrated and have the same precision as the flow meter used for the full size continuous flow CO2 incubator chamber. They are set on a steel stand at an angle for ease of viewing and adjusting flow rate.

Use of Flow Meters with the Hot Box System.
In order to achieve maximum containment of [35S]-radioactive gases generated during protein labeling experiments, a Flow Meter must be used in conjunction with the Hot Box System and Hot Filters.

The Hot Box System eliminates the hazard of contamination of personnel and equipment by radioactive gases. It isolates labeling experiments and allows you to regain full use of your CO2 incubator. Conduct experiments safely in the Hot Box System.


With millions of contaminating counts generated during typical labeling experiments, incubators must be decontaminated after every use. You can now conduct safe [35S] labeling experiments at a fraction of present cost!

The Hot Box System is compact and easy to use. Just place labeling experiment and a Static Hot Filter and flusk unit with desired gas mixture. Seal unit, remove Exhaust Hot Filter, and Flow Meter and place the Hot Box in a controlled temperature environment. To remove the labeled cells, reattach Exhaust Hot Filter and Flow Meter, and purge again. Dispose of both filters. It's that simple!

Flow Meters
Regulation of gas flow during purging is required to allow sufficient reaction time for irreversible binding of [35S]-volatile with the specially formulated charcoal in the Exhaust Hot Filter. Use Single Flow Meter with pre-mixed gases or Dual Flow Meter for on-site mixing of gases.

Static Hot Filters
Placed inside the chamber during experiments, the Static Hot Filter captures 85-90% of radioactive gases.
 


Exhaust Hot Filters
Any radioactive gases which have not had time to attach to the Static Hot Filter during the labeling experiment are trapped compley by the Exhaust Hot Filter during purging.
 

 


Hot Chimney
Used while thawing [35S]-Met/Cys, the Hot Chimney removes contaminating gases from manufacturer's reagent vial, reducing personnel exposure to radioactive gases during experimental set-up. It is designed with a Leur-Lock for safe attachment of syringe needle.
