- This paper references Gibco cell culture media including FCS （same as FBS） for use in Vascular smooth muscle cells （VSMCs） from rat thoracic aorta. All antibiotics used were also from Gibco （Invitrogen）. MMLV Reverse transcriptase was used on total RNA purified from the thoracic aorta cells to generate cDNA （60 minutes at 42 C and then 10 minutes at 75 C）.

- All cell culture components except where otherwise note are from Gibco® （Invitrogen）. Human ovarian clear cell adenocarcinoma cells （ES-2） from ATCC were cultured in McCoy's 5A medium. Immortalized ovarian surface epithelial （OSE） cells were cultured in DMEM. Both lines were supplimented with 10% FBS and 100 U/mL penicillin and 100 ug/mL streptomycin. PBS was used to wash the cells before assaying.

- Chimeric bombesin （Bn） receptors possessing cytoplasmic domains from the m3 muscarinic cholinergic ACh receptor were expressed in CHO-K1 cells. CHO-K1 cells were grown to 30-40% confluence in 60-mm dishes and transfected with 3 µg of PvuI-linearized plasmid DNA using Lipofectin reagent for 6-8 hours in serum-free medium. Cells then returned to 10% FBS, grown 36 h, and removed from the dishes by trypsin-EDTA treatment. Replated at reduced density in 150-mm plates with 1 mg/ml G418 （Geneticin）.
