INDENTATION (STIFFNESS)
An indentation test is a very convenient way to measure the mechanical properties of a sample non-destructively. Unlike the unconfined compression test, where a sample needs to be harvested from the surface, indentation maintains the mechanical environment of the sample at the location of interest and its interaction with the surrounding material. This allows the test to be repeated. In this test configuration, a spherical indenter is pressed against the sample perpendicularly to its surface while the applied displacement and resulting load are recorded. Using a theoretical model, it is possible to calculate material stiffness from the stress-strain curve.
压痕(刚度)
